Another fine piece of work by God over in Pakistan - I'm not religious but I'm curious as to how a believer copes with the seemingly random genocide that God inflicts on his people, whether it's flood in New Orleans, or Tsunamis in Asia or earthquakes in Pakistan (and just wait until Bird Flu hits mainland Europe, now that's going to be fun).
There is of course the old cop-out that "God moves in mysterious ways", but I suspect that if I slaughtered thousands of people in the name of God then the authorities may take a slightly less leniant view of it. (George Bush Junior, of course, being the voice of God is allowed to do whatever he likes, to whomever he likes - my hero)

"Education, education, education" - the rallying cry of Tony Blair 8 years ago.
"44% of pupils starting secondary school have failed to master the Three R's" *
- headline in today's papers.
Conclusion - yet another failure by our hapless PM. It'd be funny if his government hadn't managed to bring illiteracy, delinquency, alcoholism, suicide and shattered families to an all time high. That's quite a legacy you'll be leaving, Tone, when you and your media-whore wife slope off into the sunset.
* (that's reading, writing, and arithmetic for any of you reading who are in this 44%, but then again chances are that if you are one of the 44% you won't be able to understand this jumble of letters on the screen anyway, so as you were.)

On a lighter note, rest in peace Ronnie Barker. You may me (and countless others) laught heartily over the years, and will be missed a one of the few, truly great British comic legends. None of today's 'stars' even come close.

Sorry, after all that wittyness I felt it wrong to reply without even trying to say something clever.

So how long before vans roam around the country blasting out "Things can only get better"?
